6U Softball
Overview
6U Softball is designed to introduce young players to the game in a fun, positive, and encouraging environment. Our focus is on teaching the fundamentals of hitting, throwing, fielding, and base running while helping every child build confidence and develop a love for softball.
Schedule
6U Softball is offered during the Spring and Fall seasons. A Summer season may also be offered depending on player interest.
- Spring: Early April through mid-June
- Fall: After Labor Day through the end of October
- Summer: Offered if registration numbers allow (late June until early August)
Practice and game schedules are finalized after registration closes, teams are formed, coaches are selected, and rosters are completed.
- Most practices and games are held at Blueberry Park, although locations may vary due to field availability or inter-town play.
- Expect approximately two practices/games per week, weather permitting.
- Weekday events typically begin around 6:00 PM, while weekend times vary.
- Each practice/game lasts approximately 1½ hours.
- Players should arrive 15–30 minutes before game time to warm up. Your coach will communicate the exact arrival time.
Game Play
The focus at the 6U level is learning and development.
- Every player bats each inning.
- An inning ends after every player has hit.
- Defensive positions rotate each inning so all players experience different positions.
- Games are coach-pitch. If a player is unable to make contact after several pitches, a tee will be used.
- Outs are encouraged and celebrated as learning opportunities, but outs are not recorded. Runners remain on base so every player has the opportunity to continue participating.
Equipment & Uniform Requirements
Provided by the League
- Team jersey

- Heart guard for pitchers (required when playing pitcher)
Families Should Provide

GameChanger
Most coaches use the GameChanger app for team communication, schedules, and updates.
Please download the app before the season begins. Practices and games will be posted there, and families are asked to RSVP as early as possible so coaches can prepare lineups, plan practices, and ensure adequate player availability.
Volunteers
Volunteers are always appreciated!
Families are often asked to help:
- Prepare the field before the game or rake the field after the game.
- Help in the dugout to ensure kids get up to bat quickly.
- Coach 1st or 3rd base.
Many hands make the work quick and help keep the season running smoothly for everyone.
